Handmade Chess Set

Chess is a classic two-player strategy board game with a rich 1500 year history. Opponents use 16 pieces each to try and trap the opponents king.

Each piece of this set has been made in house here in our shop on Vancouver Island. The chess pieces and board are solid resin and the board is mounted on a solid piece of 3/4 inch  maple wood. The wood is finished with 2 coats of beeswax and polished to a matte finish.

The bottom of each chess piece has a felt pad. 

The chess board itself is approximately 30cm x 30cm x 1.3cm. The Chess board is mounted on a maple base that is also 30cm x 30cm x 1.2cm thick. The combined thickness of the chess board and wood backing board is 3.5cm.

There are two sets of chess pieces - Green and Beige. Each set consists of 16 pieces::

• King  (1) - 6.7 cm
• Queen (1) - 5.85 cm
• Rook (x 2) - 3.9 cm
• Bishop (x 2) - 4.90 cm
• Knight (x 2) - 4,44 cm
• Pawn (x 8) - 3.40 cm
